Browser Elections

Event Viewer has the following 8003 event

The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer BDC1 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_CpqNF31. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.

I am getting the same event from 6 servers all located on different subnets.
They are all set up as BDC's

This message normally appears only when you reboot a system that has been acting as a master browser. It does not necessarily mean that the PDC is not acting as the master browser, only that a potential master browser has been detected - which usually happens only when a PMB system has been restarted. Since you have BDCs in different subnets, each BDC is probably acting as the master browser for its subnet. Do you have your routers set to allow broadcast traffic? This may be one reason you're getting these messages. Hope this helps!

Thank You Your suggestions worked. I put the following commands on the routers at each subnet:
no ip forward-protocol udp netbios-ns
no ip forward-protocol udp netbios-dgm
This solved the problem.

On each of the BDC:

1) Open the registry (Regedt32.exe).

2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters

and look for the value "IsDomainMaster". Make sure it's set to FALSE.

3) Reboot.
