Browser won’t download files anymore

by pcmaster . Updated 19 years, 11 months ago

All was working fine until today and I realized I cannot download any type of file from any website. I can’t download .EXE or .ZIP files.

I’ve tried the two methods I know of. Click on the link and it comes to a page that says it can’t find the file.

The other method is to right-click on the link and hit ‘Save Target As..’ . This method gives the following error:

“Internet Explorer cannot download {filename} from {website}
The server returned an invalid or unrecognized response”

I’ve tried at several different sites including those that I know the file exists and is functioning and I continue to get the same error.

I’m using Windows 2000 Pro and IE 6xx.

I’ve checked for viruses or anything weird in the task manager, but nothing seems irregular.

Thanks.
