I have an NT 4.0 Domain. One PDC and 5 BDCs. The Domain Controllers are 2 NT 4.0 Servers and 3 NT 4.0 Enterprise Servers and several NT 4.0 Members Servers and Several Windows 2000 Member Servers. My problem is my Network every couple of weeks become unsynchrinized and shows unknown for the Master Browser. I end up having to promote one of the BDCs and reboot all my Domain Controllers one at a time. Normally the PDC is a Windowsa NT Server.

Why would this keep happening so often?

I have heard that sometimes a misconfigured laptop computer can connect to a network and become a master browser. Perhaps from having a check in the LMAnnounce box or something like that. Maybe someone who has seen this can elaborate.

Just to add to the above, I agree that maybe you have the LMAnnounce feature set to automatic or something like that. It should be disabled. Also make sure the registry key is set properly on the BDC's.

Are you specifying only one of these systems to be the browse master?
