BSD..????

By Maiden71 ·
I'm running WinNT4.0 Wrkstation with Sp 6..
Just got a error message..
Stop: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error
\systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll..

Is this Hardware error or software error?
This HD has been reimaged before and was working fine until now...Haven't changed any settings or installed any new program..

I'm thinking this is HD issue...
Please help..

Thank you all..

Here is the Microsoft info (KB article Q101096):
The following STOP message appears when a critical system file or other file needed to load Windows NT is corrupted:

STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error
<path>\<file name>
...
If you receive this error message, the file listed along with the error is corrupted. You need to either obtain a new copy of the file or reinstall Windows NT or Windows 2000. If reinstallation fails to solve the problem, then a hardware or network problem may exist.
---------------------

Alternatively, the error may read as follows:

STOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error
c:\winnt\system32\ntdll.dll (or other specific file/driver)

---------------------

Sounds like no fun. Sorry about that.

Since you stated that the HD was recently remimaged and that was when the problems started, I would feel that it points to corrupt HD image as a whole and would suggest having the HD reimaged over trying to reinstall bits and peices of the OS.

Just a thought.
