BSOD from SATA drive

By jody ·
I am welcome to any suggestions. I have 2 identical SATA 250 GB drives installed for storage (no RAID), 1 IDE 250 installed (for OS XP) When I try to look through my SATA drive I get the blue screen and it reboots itself. My second SATA not longer shows up at all except in the BIOS, as Channel 0. Any comments?

Test the function of your Drives with the Makers Testing Utility.

If they come back as working A OK then backup your existing data and do a clean install of your OS and software.

You will need to Wipe your Boot Drive so use a Utility like Boot & Nuke available here free

Of course if they are faulty the Drives or M'Board need replacing.

Thank you for your quick response. Do you know of a good utility to test the stability of a Gigabyte motherboard? I think that is where my problem lies.

Not really but this is what I do

Run a drive test on the system as it stands if the drives fail the test pull them and test them on another M'Board. If they still fail the Drives are at fault. If they pass the second test the M'Board in the first system is faulty.

Not pretty but effective and fairly quick.
