hello! i had this problem with my pc for the past 5 months.. and already got tired of it. i’m sure this problem is hardware related. i’ve disabled all bios shadow and caches, removed all peripheral cards, and the only thing left is cpu (P3 866 (133×6.5), motherboard (jetway), 1 stick of ram (pc133 kingston value), and a 10g 5200rpm maxtor hdisk. i’ve also tried disabling most of the integrated devices such as modems and usb controller but the problem persists.
these are the common errors i’ve encountered :
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x0000000A (0x00000028, 0x00000002, 0x00000000,0x804FCECA)
and
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050
for the time being, if i’m lucky, i’ll be able to boot into windows. but when i try to install any software, at some particular point, i think when the program try to write to the registry, the dreaded BSOD appears. and sometimes when i just leave it idle with no running programs and minimum background processess running, with no reason at all, the BSOD popped up.
but when i boot to linux the problem seems to be gone.. well.. most of the times. could it be caused by faulty motherboard or cpu or just a registry problem? i’ve tried reinstalled windows hundred times but to no avail. please help this suffering newbie! 😀
