BSOD VxD exception error – can anyone please help?

by betsynorton . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

Hi! Hopefully someone can help me…
I occasionally am getting the following BSOD message which pretty much locks me up, then I crash. Goes like this:

An exception OE has occurred at 0028:FF2172E4 in VxD —. This was called from 0028:C0034A74 in VxD.

The message proceeds to tell me that I can hit any key to continue. This will sometimes bring back whatever I am working on just long enough for me to save a document, sometimes I can continue for a short while before computer locks up completely, sometimes it locks up immediately. Sometimes it restores itself upon rebooting, and sometimes it takes several reboots. In any case it will not reboot by keyboard only via shutting off via on/off button on computer.

I am using Windows 98 Second Edition, with GenuineIntel Intel(r) Celeron(tm) Processor, with 127.0MB RAM.

Any suggestions? I am afraid if I continue to work around this problem without solving it my computer’s day’s are numbered until it really crashes.

Thanks!
