btu/thermal dissiptaton output formula?

By Seadogs ·
I am trying to calculate the btu generation per hour for each of our servers. Can anyone give me a formula to use? I've tried the tech specs for our systems with no luck. Thanks!

Hi,

Presumably you're doing this for calculations on air conditioning for a computer room?

Take a look at the following site...

http://www.isp-planet.com/equipment/2001/cool_bol.html

(remove spaces from the above URL)

...it has some good rules of thumb. As you will see its not necessarily an exact science...

Cheers,
Tim.

If you can estimate the power consumption, it is just a conversion from Kilowatts to BTUs.
Hopefully, your power consumption is not the same as your PS rating.

The conversion is Kilowatts * 3414.4 = BTU/hr

Since most of the energy consumed bycomputers is converted to heat, this should get you close.
