Build a GCC tool-chain for embedded dev

By MaryWeilage Editor ·
Have you ever built a full GCC-based embedded tool-chain hosted on Windows using Cygwin, as discussed in our Embedded Software Development newsletter? If so, what were your results? If you haven't, do you think you'll download Cygwin and give it a try?

Trying now

I'm giving this a whirl at the moment but am having problems with shared libraries. Cygwin documentation is a bit light on this.

I'll be interested to see other replies and get a feel for how succesful unix -> cygwin ports are

I have downloaded CYGWIN

As you asked fact is I have downloaded and installed cygwin, sometime in November while at redhat's website I stumbled across this great
unix emulation and started using it for a bourne shell course I was taking.

I thought I'd install the development packages too!
since I had plans to do some study of Python and further my skills improvement of Java.

And Since I am interested greatly in embedded development I can't wait for next weeks article
to start delving into this topic.

Sincerely,

Michael
