built-in display card

hi all

i have a built-in display adapter.
and i have the slot of vga and pci.

when i connect a display card on one of them,
how the computer knows where to send the siganl to?

If you do nothing else both display adapters will be working and showing the same output.

But to improve System Performance you can disable the On Board Video in BIOS and take full advantage of the PCI Video Card you may also need to tell the computer through a BIOS change to look at a PCI slot for the Display adapter as well it all depends on the make/model of your M'Board and the version of the BIOS installed.

If you are in doubt go to the Makers Web Site and download the latest BIOS Update for your Computer/M'Board and install it and then follow their instructions on what is required when you change the BIOS version.

There should also be instructions there telling you how to disable the On Board Video.
