Is it Blue Screen error 0x00000024

by Jacky Howe In reply to Bule Screen Of Death!

if not can you post the Error message. Try Booting to the Recovery Console.
<br><br>
Insert your XP CD and when you see ?Press any key to boot from CD? press a key. Now wait for the XP installer to finish loading up and you will be presented with the option to press R to Repair.
<br><br>
Press R.
<br><br>
The next screen will ask you which Windows installation you would like to log on to. Normally the following will be listed:
<br><br>
1: C:\WINDOWS
<br><br>
Press 1, then Enter to continue.
<br><br>
You may now be asked for the Administrator password. If you know this type it and press Enter. If you don't know the Administrators password it may be blank. Just press Enter or type your username and password.
<br><br>
At the command prompt type:
<br><br>
chkdsk /r and press Enter.

Check the memory.
<br><br>
You can test the memory by running Windows Memory Diagnostic that can be downloaded from http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp. If memory problems are found, try re-seating the RAM. If it doesn't work, replace the defective RAM.

When you reboot

by vhrocker In reply to Bule Screen Of Death!

make sure you hit F8 to get boot options. I usually hit several times after system beep "to make sure" it will come up. There you should see the boot options (i.e. boot to Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ Networking, etc.). Select "Disable Automatic restart on Failure" or something along those lines. When you get the blue screen, write down the "STOP: 0x0000... (0x..., 0x..., 0x..., 0x...)" code and post it here.
