Bulk changing inherited permissions

By smittyrt ·
Hey everyone. I have a problem that is taking entirely too long to fix the way I'm doing it. An admin here at my office decided to set the inherited permissions for the root directory of our users and profiles directories. This caused all of the users to be unable to make modifications to their own directories. I am currently going to each directory and unchecking the "Allow inherited permissions from parent to propogate..." checkbox. After than I select copy and then Add the user from ourdomain and give them modify rights to the directory and then select "Reset permissions on all child objects..." from the Advanced tab. This gives the users the ability to make changes to their own personal folders only.
Their has to be a way to dothis with a script or something but I have no idea how. If anyone out there could send me a script example or point me in the right direction...I would be very grateful.

Bulk changing inherited permissions

I have a short VB script that I use it to repair home directories for users. It checks to make sure a home directory exists and that it is shared and then re-applies NTFS permissions.

It should be easy to modify for your needs.

I will e-mail you this script separately as it is too long to post here.
