burned cd reading 'no disk' on cd player

By strat.thecat ·
I burn cd's successfully using real player, nero, pinnacle, Sound Forge.
But when I try to play any on an external hi-fi player they all read 'no-disk'.
What am I doing wrong?

For play back on a standard audio CD player, you need to do a couple of things.

First, you MUST close the CD and not just the session. That locks and sets up the table of contents file so that standard CD players can read it.

Second, unless the audio player supports multiple formats, you need to record the CD as an music CD project.

This way, the CD software will convert the music files to a format compatible with the CD audio standard.

Too add to that. MANY older CD players cannot read a CDR or some just can't read CDRW but can read CDR. Make sure your CD player has the ability to read from writable disks.

In addition to The_Chas's comments, which are correct, you must burn audio files (wav not mp3). Very few CD players will play mp3 files. Need to convert mp3 files to wav files if that is your source.
