Burning 9GB DVD

By turkitech76 ·
I'm looking forward to buying a new external DVD writer, however, I'm not sure if it can burn more than 4.5GB DVDs. How can I make sure of this feature?is it software or hardware issue?

It's both. 9 gig DVDs are dual layered and they're pressed, not burned. The most that you can burn is approximately 4.3 gigs. If you're looking to burn movies there is plenty of free software out there that can shrink them down to size without much loss in quality.

9 gig DVD's are just burnable on both sides. They don't make the dual layer desktop burners yet.

Oh yea software won't make the side transition. You have to create the sides your self.
