burning disk for data backup

By jasonacey9448 ·
i have been burning data cds with windows xp for the past year or more and have never had a problem. i could select all files then copy to cd by clicking on the left side of page or i could select all then click file> send to> cd drive.
recently i reinstalled windows to my system due to some corrupt files, and now i dont have the option to click to the side of the page where it once was, or if i click file> send to> then my burner is not an option. i have tried downloading a fix me file from microsoft but it said i had a more update one on my computer. is anyone familiar with this problem and if so please help

Maybe XP doesnt recognize the drive as a burner. Try downloading the latest drivers for the cdrw drive. It should work fine afterwards.

I don't believe that the right click for sending files to a CD drive is a Windows feature.

I suspect it was part of some burning software that you had, or a 3rd party utility.

To add your CD drive to the Send To menu, you just need to add a shortcut to the drive in your Documents and Settings\SendTo folder.

sounds like you had Roxio or Nero installed
on your machine from the PC vendor. Look around
and see if they gave you some disks. If not
look at some oem versions of either package
on the net for around $5 - $12 and buy it.
