I have been building my new PC from scratch, and although i’ve had many problems, is seem to be getting there.
There was a high pitch sound coming from the system fan, which i inspected and saw was just a wire touching the centre as it was spinning, so i moved it, the problem was i stubbed my finger on it which slowed it down, then i started smelling a slight burning smell from the PSU so pulled out the power straight away.
Could me slowing the fan have caused the PSU to make the burning smell as it started straight after i touched it and i have had the computer powered up for quite a while before and hadn’t smelt anything, and do you think it is safe to test it again as it is all brand new kit and i don’t want to be buying anything else!
