buying a vlk windows xp professional from local person?

A local person is offering me volume liscene key or windows xp professional. He say he can't give the media. Is this legal can i buy a vlk from someone else than microsoft??

VLKs are licensed to corporations from MS or an authorized partner (if there is such a thing). I believe you can only legally get them from MS, and will end up invalidating your OS on a home install.

There are authorise businesses that are reseller's of VLK's - but the VLK media b peice or by subscription is also a purchaseable option.

I beleive schools & universities can sell discounted software from Microsoft to their students and this maybe via a VLK arrangement.

There are different prices for WinXP upgrades vs WinXP full licenses (i.e for new machines) - but the media would be the same from memory.

Unless you are truely buying by volume, and not individual packages, I would suggest with the information you have presented that this is not a legitimate Microsoft reseller.
