C++ Runtime Error - mpnotify.exe

By lazybedstar23 ·

I work for a major company and lately all the PC's that are being loaded with the new image (windows 2000) we get this error at the network login screen, mind you we use Novell for Windows. C++ Runtime Error - mpnotify.exe Line 173. Does anyone have any ideas? I am giving ALOT of points for this due to the nature of this error.

Just a shot at the obvious... have you tried copying mpnotify.exe from a working machine to the system32 folder on one that's getting the error?

From Microsoft Standard WinNT O/S Executibles list: mpnotify.exe "Run by Winlogon to notify multiple providers (such as Banyan? or Novell?, and so on) of security events (such as change of password and logon)"

I would start at the beginning, the original image.
Was it a good image (no messages in eventlog).
Were there any files encrypted ?? ., and all protocols working fine.
Did that the process of the imaging went well, ? no error messages.

which imaging software was used ??
