I work for a cable company installing the hsd modems. whether its’ a motorola or 3com, I’m finding the same problem. When the usb is used, either ethernet adaptor usb, or some modems are dual port, the internet connection is lost. on first boot-up everything is good, if they sign off walk away for a few hours then try to sign on they cant, UNTILL they restart the computer then everything is good to go. By installing a ethernet card remedies the situation but i would like to know whats going on with the usb
