cache memory

running win98;although internal & external cache in bios are enabled the value on the right bottom shows 128 only. how do i get it to 512. my pc is pentuim 2 with 64mb ram (dimm)4.3 gig hdd

Check with your motherboard maker for BIOS update, could be it is just showing incorrect value.

The number probably refers to external cache, in other words, cache that is not physically part of the CPU. Internal cache is faxed, External Cache memory is often an installed module, you should check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if and how this cache memory can be upgraded.
