Calender problem...

By cmaiti ·
Hello,
We are running exchange5.5 and outlook 2000 on all the client. The problem is sometimes few meetings get dropped off from their calender, gets duplicated, looses the ownership of the meetings.
If anybody is having any ideas about this problem , please share with me.
Thanks in advance..
Chandan.

The thing about Outlook is that it is more of a personal calendar feature. Yes, you can use it with Exchange to perform a little more like a "community" calendar but that's not it's strength. Sounds like the "lost" meetings are being produced on thepersonal calendars instead of the community calendar. Check to see if this is the case. You might want to use a program that is designed and intended to be a community calendar. Act is one that I know of and have worked with. There are others.

Several things to check.
Be sure all clients are publishing about the same amount of months from their calendars, and I'd recommend not more than four months. [Tools, Options, Calendar...Advanced Scheduling] They should all be updating the server each 15-30 minutes.

On the Properties of the Calendar folder, they should have checked "Automatically generate Exchange views".

When a client deletes or changes a meeting, they should choose the 'send update' option.

An aside to DRBooth, "Microsoft designed Exchange Server specifically for sharing calendar, contact and other information, as well as e-mail"--Sue Mosher,www.slipstick.com

I have made an assumption (and please correct me if I'm wrong)--that you are using Outlook in the Corporate/Workgroup mode. Do all the users having problems with the calendar reside on the same Exchange server or more than one? How large is the client group using the calendar/meeting feature?
