camera card readers limitation

By alloy ·
Have had problems reading SD cards on slot on my PC... so acquired an external USB multitype card reader which copes with most SD cards .. but I now have a 2gb card wgich sometimes is read succesfully and sometimes only reads some of the files.
I have read that there is a capacity limit on these card readers (I presume a buffer limitation?) can any one offer any information and how to download from the higher capacity cards that are now in use?

Dedicated reader

I recommend that you pick up a dedicated SD card reader. I have had a number of issues with several different "multi-card" readers.

Another soft spot can be the USB port itself. I find that some of the cheaper USB cards just don't work as well as the name brand cards do.

Try updating drivers

I had the same problem with the card reader port reading high capacity cards on my Sony laptop, updating the card reader drivers (& applying a registry patch) fixed the problem. Have you looked for updates for your card reader? Check the website for your PC manufacturer...
