Can a W2K Server see a Netware 6 server

By 1coordinator ·
I have a Netware 6 Network TCP only whit W95 and XP Clients. Now I need to set up an aditional MS W2K Server(+sp2).
The problem: when I log on the W2K Server I can see the Netware server. I created a shared folder for the W2K Server on the Netware 6 Server for schedulled copying of specific data.
Only at the predestined time the W2K Server can not find the Netware 6 Server.
What I am I doing wrong

I'm not sure I understand your problem. You say that you can connect to the Netware server from the Win2k box, and access the shared folder, but some time later when doing the same through the scheduler it doesn't work any more?

How do you access the Netware server through the scheduler?

Have you installed the latest Netware client (4.83SP1, get it at http://download.novell.com/filedist/pages/PublicSearch.jsp)

You need to install Gateway Services for Netware on the Win2k server.

Go to Start - Help and search for "NTGATEWAY".
This will bring up several topics that will help you configure your server.

NTgateway is a service for the ipx/spx protocol it has no function on a TCP only network

The scheduler will not see a mapped drive.

When use the scheduler, is it running a batch file? Add a map or net use, or use UNC. I have had this problem many times, and this has worked everytime.

When you use the GSFN you have the option to log into the Netware server as a service. Not so with the Netware client. If no user is logged in to the Win2k system (and the Netware server) when the scheduled copy commences you will not have access to the Netware server at that time.

If i try to use GSFN then I have to install the Microsoft implementation of IPX/SPX ( As i see it there is no use for IPX/SPX on a TCP/IP only network) see comment at answer 4.

If the two servers have a router between them, you would need to have IPX running on both servers, and the router. You would also need to have GNSW (gateway services for netware) running on the Win2k box, and specify the NDS context for the NW6 server.
