Can a Win2000 computer name be set DHCP?

By cse ·
We're setting up a dhcp server that will
hand out IP addresses based on Mac Address.

We're wondering if we can also set the
computer/hostname as well.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance,
April Carvalho

There is no DHCP option that allows you to issue a computer its name via DHCP.

Yes you can. You can name your computer in any convention you want. It can also issue IP addresses on the basis of the MAC Addresses of the clients if you make reservations of those addresses under the DHCP dropdown box.
