Can a Windows 7 BackUp be restored on Windows XP?

By CompHelpNJ ·
I've been using Windows BackUp on a Windows 7 desktop to perform daily backups onto an external hard drive. I want to take that external hard drive and restore some of its contents onto a Windows XP desktop. Can this be done using Windows XP Backup/Restore utility? If not, how else could it be done?

NO It can not be done that way.

The solution if you still have the 7 System is to copy the Required Data as Plain Text to the Backup Drive and then copy it back to the XP System provided that the XP System can read that particular Drive.
