Can access be block using MAC address??

By Amenaza ·
Hi, I am running NT4 server with DHCP, I am trying to block access to the internet to one of my users, but because I run DHCP I can't block the IP address since the user can release/renew his IP. Can I block access to the net using their MAC address??
Thanks.

If you you are going to block access at the router, routers only understand IP addresses.
What you can do is create a DHCP reservation for this one user. This still assigns an IP address (as well as other DNS info) via DHCP, but essentially gives this user a fixed IP address (by always giving him the same address). He can release/renew all he wants but he will always be given the same address.

BTW, unless this user is only given permission to log-on to a specific computer, are you doing something to prevent him from just logging on to another computer?

What i would do is make a reservation for that MAC adress and give it an IP so they cannot change their IP.
