Can I install Vista Beta on a reformatted laptop?

By BearyAnn ·
I have to wipe my laptop clean as I got into some virus or worm or something that I cannot get cleaned up. I was wondering, snce I am wiping it clean, is it possible to get a version of Vista to install and test it on a fresh system? What are your recommendations?

You can try it

if your system meets the requirements for Vista. It might even work. I'm running the Aug 2006 beta 2 build 5536 on an Acer Tablet PC without any trouble.

Depends

on what you have. If you only have 512 MB Ram, I would not suggest it. As it will run poorly. Also, your processor should be a minimum of 1.6 Ghz for decent performance (slower than XP though).
If you have the disk, try it, see what you think. If it does not run, or runs poorly, reformat and go back to XP

Thanks for the comments. After checking further I don't think my laptop can handle Vista. Oh well, it was worth a try. Thanks again!!

I hate Vista

I use Vista only in Virtual Machines. Period. Too many quirks. Too many driver issues. ****, I've had to replace routers because of Vista incompatibilities. As MS Partner I won't even sell it unless every piece of equipment around it is Vista "perfect".
