Can I restore the app?

By kezmaster ·
I know this may not sound very technical, but I was wondering if there is an imaging or restore type software that can make a back up of a specific app installed on the Windows 2000 Advanced Server platform. I unfortunately misplaced my my install cd and need to wipe out and re install the OS. Once this is done I would like to restore my previously installed application. Any alternate suggestions are welcome.

Norton Ghost is your best bet. I'm not positive but I am pretty sure it will do exactly what you need.

Ghost, to my knowledge, will not backup a specific application. What you are asking entails backing up of all the files, including the DLLs and any other files, located throughout the system. Unless the backup program knows EXACTLY which files andregistry keys the application is using this task is next to impossible.

You CAN use GHOST, however, to image your entire system. I use this frequently and strongly recommend it. Beats the **** out of the ERD system Microsoft uses and on many systems will take less time to implement.

This forum hasn't helped me on this issue. I guess I was looking for someone with experience(s) with WISE for windows or perhaps an app like it.
