Can I upgrade PII 350 to higher CPU?

By mchub ·
Currently a slot 1 350 w/motherboard se44obx-2, 100 FSB. I'd like to go higher MHz by just replacing cpu chip. I was told no coppermine would work. Anyway to do this? I was looking at Evergreen Performa 600 but would like to stay w/Pentium.

Can I upgrade PII 350 to higher CPU?

If your motherboard is Intel se440bx-2 then you can use a wide variety of Intel processors. For example PII@450 MHz or PIII@850MHz or Celeron@433MHz.
You may have to download new flashbios for some of the processors.
A complete list of supported processors can be found at:
http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/se440bx2/procsupp.htm
I hope you find this useful.
