Can I use an old EIDE HD on a new MB with SATA connections using the IDE connection? Or do you have to buy a new SATA HD and transfer everything over?

Yes you can if the BIOS support it

However, You can only put two IDE devices per channel. So if you have two device other than the HD then you will have to choose one.

I recommend buying the SATA drive and a IDE to USB case and transferring the data.

hope this helps

Thank you, I will probably go with your idea of transferring, however I lost my OS and Office disks. Can I transfer everything over including that or do I need to go by all new OS disks and Office?
