Can I use two different kinds of Memory

by mattm_72787 . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

I am upgrading to a AMD 64bit FX-62; Asus M2R32-MVP(GREEN) Socket AM2/ CrossFire Xpress 3200 motherboard; The motherboard will only accept DDR2 ram, and it recommends GEIL PC6400 DDR2(800) Dual Channel Memory, it will hold up to 8 gigs. The question is, can i add my old memory with it and have that much more ram. My old memory is DDR PC2400 Dual Channel, I think my old memory will do more harm than good if i add it to my computer. But am affraid to try, i dont wnat to replace any parts and i want to save my old memory if it wont work. Any help will be great thanks.
