Can not access the printer properties

by joeleene75 . Updated 18 years, 3 months ago

I had my printer all set up with only one problem, I couldn’t access the printer properties or preferences.
I have a home network, which consists of a D-Link wireless router with print server DI-524UP and the Canon MP730 is plugged in via USB to that. The router is then connected to the Speedtouch modem and the desktop computer as well as wirelessly communicating with the laptop. I have been able to share the printer and files between the two computers but never been able to access the printer properties which is very annoying as I can not change it to colour or B/W printing, A4 or A5 printing. I can not even see any of that. I am the administrator on both computers and I have full access to everything. I am running Windows XP on both computers. I have been fiddling to try and get this working and now I can’t even get the printer to work on the printer server port. I currently have the printer plugged straight into the desktop via USB and still no properties access.
The desktop is an AMD Athlon XP and the laptop is a HP dv4017AP, I hope I have given you enough information.
I want to get my printer running on the print server again and be able to see the printer properties.

Please help!
