You willneed to describe a bit better the behavior.

Installing a new Windows OS was probably a more expensive attempt (and unlikely to succeed) to fix this, especially if you did not do a clean install.

So - do you mean a general wireless network connection, as to a router, or do you mean specifically a certain wireless ISP connection?

What are the error messages? You obviously have a functioning card if your connection works in a Linux OS. So, depending on your answer to my second paragraph, you either need to change some configuration, or you need to install a driver. (Check the status of your wireless card in Device Manager.)

A few more details will get you the answer you require.

Hi, will the laptop connect to the internet if you plug it in with a network cable? If so then it is possibly a wireless driver issue. If not then perhaps you have/had an infection that has damaged the TCP/IP stack somehow.

Try running "netsh int ip reset c:\reset.txt" (without the quotes) from a command prompt and rebooting.

The previous comment regarding the wireless card driver in device manager should be your first port of call.
