Can not install critical updates

I get the “critical update notification message” every day on my windows 2000 server. I try to dowload them but they fail each time. No error message, no partial install nothing. I see the files download, then install, then I get the screen that says Windows was unable to install updates, press back button to try again. This has been going on for months. Can’t figure it out. Please Help.
