Okay, heres ther problem, I have just gained IT consulting for a small local company, they have only 5 pc (XP-pro) and a 2003 SBS. The server (after fixing a lot of mistakes left by the guy who set up the server) I now have everything actually running properly, except that the 2 new laptops (xp-pro) can not join the domain. When I try I recieve the error “The following error occurred attempting to join the domain “
I can ping the domain and i get back the correct IP, If I put in an incorect user/pasword i get an unknown user error. The server handles DNS, and DHCP, also file sharing, and exchange email. There were many problems with this server when I first gained control, too many to go into right now. If anyone can give me any options to try right now I would apriciate it, even the most obscure. I have tried many diffrent things, but I will be happy to try them again per someone elses instruction.
