can not print e-mail

By wnewman ·
Ever since our clasroom computers went to Windows 2000 from Windows 98, no one on the network can print their e-mail messages or pages on internet sites. The server runs Windows NT. Our support people can not find out whats wrong.

can not print e-mail

I'm assuming you can't print ANYTHING.

If, for example, the server has a HP LaserJet 8100, you need to get the latest driver for NT and for 2000. Load the NT driver on the NT server; when connecting to the printer from a 2000 workstation, specifythe downloaded Win2000 driver.

You can also "force" it with many HP printers by adding another logical printer to the printserver printing to the same port, but using "HP Deskjet" or "HP Laserjet" original drivers. DPI suffers and you get no color, but you can print.

NT 4.0 will not give the 2000 machine print drivers on it own, and if it does it is the wrong one. You need the Win2000 drivers for the printer that you are trying to send to. Easy fix is to use a 2000 box as your print server.
