Can not read any dvd/cd in windows or Flash drive

by alecwillett . Updated 16 years, 3 months ago

I have a Lenovo T400, I am unable to access any media in the DVD drive. it will be a blank window. If I put a usb flash drive in the machine windows will say that I need to format the drive, but windows will not format it. I noticed if I browse the properties of the DVD drive & flash drive it will say RAW data for the file type.

The machine can boot to the dvd drive outside of windows without any problems. I have tried both the dvd drive & flash drive in another laptop and it works.

Things I have tried, but did not work.
1) Removed device drivers for USB Root Hubs & DVD/CD Drive.
2) Also checked in registry there is no upper or lower filter to delete.
3)Updated bios
4)un-installed SP3 for XP

Kind of running out of ideas any info would be great.
