I have a Win98 PC on my network that is having trouble connecting via TELNET to an HP machine. To make matters worse, the problem is intermittent. Sometimes I can telnet, sometimes I can’t. Through it all, I can ping the HP machine, see all the network PCs in Network Neighborhood, and can access other PC files through the Neighborhood. The HP machine is ancient and requires access through telnet. Other PCs on the network can telnet to this HP machine. I’ve tried 3 different telnet applications on this machine with the same problem. What am I missing here?
