PC name changed fom NOC1 to NOC2. There's some problem with the DNS as it can still be PING via both computer names. The entry has also been taken out from the DNS Manager & WINS manager. I reckon it might take sometime before its refresh/sync.
Please help me to resolve this, kindly assist. Thanks.

If it is out of DNS, then it could still be in WINS. Open WINS manager, expand the server, then on Active Registrations right-click and choose Find By Owner. Then, select All Owners and click OK. Let the list come up. Then, sort the display byRecord Name, and check for NOC1. If you see it, right click every entry (you might have several for different NetBIOS codes like 03h, 00h, 20h, etc)and choose Delete. In the warning box that comes up, choose "Replicate deletion of the record to other servers (Tombstone). Click OK.
Keep doing that until NOC1 is entirely gone.
This will force the records to be tombstoned immediately, thereby deleting them.
Assuming it is 2000, try ipconfig /flushdns Make sure someone hasn't created a hosts/lmhosts file. When you ping, does it return a FQDN, or just the name?
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
