Can Pron Sites be Filtered

Without more information on what you have in place in regards to firewall products etc. It is difficult to answer the questions specifically.

The simple answer is, "Yes, definitely." You will need to have or add a product that can do this. Since you are in a NetWare shop, Novell's BorderManager product would be a good choice. You can configure, according to NDS user id, what access people have to the internet. Including content blocking and filtering. It does take some setup and maintenance to do this affectively. I would recommend you go to www.novell.com and look under the products area. Check out BorderManager. There are many other non-novell products that will do the same things, the benefit of BorderManager is NDS integration.

Border Manager has the facility to bloke specified sites, and is integrated into NDS so you can specify who can and cannot access certain sites in the "out going rules" list.

On top of this, you can integrate CyberPatrol (an independant product) with BorderManager. CyberPatrol contains a huge list of undesirable web addresses and will not let users access any sites that are on the list.

When you purchase CyberPatrol, as well as the initial product, you receive updates (not sure whetherit is daily, weekly etc.) so that as new undesirable sites come on line, they get banned pretty quickly too.

Hope this helps!

There are two ways ;
Policy , establish a company policy that says "access unsuitable material and you will be disciplined , repeated offenses will lead to termination" . You can monitor what your users are accessing using a "Sniffer" type monitor , Spynet is good at this and very cheap .

Firewall with content restrictions , Novells Border manager with Cyber Patrol does a good job but there are other products that do the same . Net Nanny can run on each machine .

These all require $ and time to monitor your network , I'd try policy first , let everyone know that the company could face sexual harassment suits or possibly criminal prosecution as a result of this activity . If that doesn't work then monitor and do spot inspections .We've had recent terminations of employees for improper use of company resources and that's really good at limiting this type of activity . We don't care what they do at home , that's their own time and computer .
