Can someone help Me with Window XP?

By sanwardak ·
Hi
I have installed Windows XPS3, but the internet is not working. There is no problem with my modeam or network card because internet work when I install Windows 7 or Vista. When I install XP even it cant detect the network connection icon, it should give me the option to setup a network at final steps of instalition, but it not.
Thanks in Advance

Open the Device Manager by

by OH Smeg In reply to Can someone help Me with ...

Left clicking on Start, then Right Click on My Computer and left click on Proprieties from the Drop Down Menu, when the next Window Opens left click on the Hardware Tab and then left click on Device Manager.

You then need to install any missing drivers. Missing Drivers are denoted by a Yellow Triangle with a Black Exclamation Mark through them. Until your Ethernet Driver is installed Windows Can not ask you to setup a Connection.

fresh install always missing drivers

by Who Am I Really In reply to Can someone help Me with ...

unless the system has an NIC from before 1999 - 2000 it won't be directly "supported" or even recognized by XP and will require the drivers provided by the Mfg of the NIC.
device manager can't tell you the brand or model etc, of the NIC if it's not supported or recognized,
hopefully you have a CD with the drivers
if the NIC is integrated on the MB then the drivers will be on the MB CD

If you don't have the Driver Disc

by OH Smeg In reply to This is the second hand p ...

All you need do is visit the M'Board Makers Web Site and download the latest drivers for this M'Board. If it is a System Makers System like HP, Dell or so on you just need to visit their Web Site for the Drivers.

You Do Not need to original Driver Disc just the Make & Model of either the Computer or M'Board to get the drivers.

What does Device Manager show?

by Ron K. In reply to Reinstalled

Is there a question mark for your network connection/card? Are you using the connection on the motherboard or a separate NIC? What is the specific make and model of the computer/network interface card?
