CAN WIN2000 CONNECT TO A PRINTER

I have a printer that is connected by parallel cable to a computer that is running windows 95. I have tried to connect a computer that is running Windows 2000 to that printer with no luck. I have tried with different HP printers. Can Windows2000 use a shared printer running on Windows 95?
