Can XPpro record Firewall Statistics?

By robman ·
When running Win98, I had a firewall security program that logged hits from the internet, showing IP addresses, MAC addresses (sometimes), port numbers that were attempted to access, time of day, number of tries, etc. The application has no upgrade for XP.

Is it possible for XP firewall to log attempted access hits?

Yes, it will if you enable it. Here's a good walkthrough to set it up.

Hope this helps

Thanx! The info is listed by the following fields:

#Fields: date time action protocol src-ip dst-ip src-port dst-port size tcpflags tcpsyn tcpack tcpwin icmptype icmpcode info

If the request is icmp, for example, then the tcp columns are ignored and the info shows up in the last two columns.

The only thing missing that I wish was there is the number of tries. (I've seen as many as 99 attempts on the same port in a minute or 2, on the old detection system.) I'm not sure if this log will list each request separately, or if repeated it will ignore how many times. We shall see.
