Can you help with log on into my computer?

By jjordan123 ·
Can't logon onto Windows Visa in any mode because of System Tools Virus...I believe this is the cause. I can get to the Log on screen, but there is no longer my admin account and the only account that exsists is "Other user". I have no idea what to do. Perhaps there is a default account I can use to get into safe mode? Also the Log on screen is a lower resolution than usual.

Try using a Rescue Disc to clean the system first

If the infection isn't too bad it may clean the system up and allow you to use it latter. It may also clean the system and stop it booting in which case I hope you made a Rescue Disc as Vista recommended.

Personally I've found that F Secure

And AVG work very well and as both are free you have nothing to loose.

Clean up using another computer

by nrmcewen In reply to Can you help with log on ...

I would recommend using another computer to fix this problem. You could remove the hard drive and connect it to another machine. Perform a full virus scan and clean up. Then, put the disk back into the original machine and boot up. If you still cannot login then you can use the StickyKeys workaround to get access to the original machine (http://4sysops.com/archives/forgot-the-administrator-password-the-sticky-keys-trick/)
