Can you log in to a user account with admin rights?

By DarkWhiteChocolate ·
Basically I need to access a users account on a domain using an admin login. Is there a way I can do this because it seems my only option is to log them off and I need to see a setting based on their profile and they are not available to give access.

Thanks for any help

simple as that.

There is never been a need to, otherwise the persons account would be an admin account.

What setting based on their profile do you need to see that RSoP will not show you in Users & Computers / GPO console (assuming Windows)

I needed to check a setting on the Outlook 2003 client of the machine. The problem has been resolved as the user came back and let me in but it would have been nice to just get it done.

to a generic one, then after your done, give them the generic password, set the account to require the user to change the password at the next login. Done.

so how come you don't know this already?

I do know how to reset a password but I would have thought it obvious that it wasn't the action I wanted to take by posting a question asking for a possible work around.

Use RA or RDP to view a user account with admin rights?

by www.CompuNerds.Net In reply to Can you log in to a user ...

If the user isn't available, how can he/she give permission for you to use Remote Assistance or Remote Desktop (or VPN software such as TeamViewer or ShowMyPC)? In that case if you log him/her off, then delete the password so you can login, you can see the setting. But does logging him/her off kill a task that's causing the problem. Sounds like a Catch-22 situation!

Exactly

We do have VNC and RDP but the user would still be logged into the system so aside from deleting their password it seems impossible. My hope was there would be some kind of login trick like

User Name: <-user-><-special characters-><-admin user name->
Password: <admin password>

Example: jsmith%#$admin

But it is looking like that does not exist =(
