sure. you got your cookies, you got your history and you got your browser cache files plus activex objects and maybe the ‘autocomplete’ cache. those are all just files that live in accessible folders on your hard drive. you don/t mention which browser or os so maybe that’s why you didn’t get step by step instructions before. on XP, using internet explorer 6 sp1, you can clean it all up from internet explorer. go to tools/internet options, general/ delete files/delete cookies/clear history. you can ‘view objects’ and delete activex controls. go the the privacy tab and turn off autocomplete.
      hope this helps.

Previous answer will clear internet traces locally. When traveling the internet you may leave traces along the way. For example traces may be logged by your firewall, ISP, an IDS.

      Answer 1 is correct –

If you are looking to hide however I would suggest using a public proxy server — this will slow down your browsing – but will also allow for you to appear that your coming from elsewhere to the most general of users –

Beware however if someone wants to find who you are – they can at least find out your IP…

if your looking to manually remove the files say -from your fiance’s eyes … I would suggest using a software application to do so –
you could also – (if on XP or 2000) set up a local policy to do so automatically…
