Cannot access drive A (3.5" disk drive)

By ngubanes ·
When I try to access Drive A (3.5" disk drive), I get the message saying that the drive is not ready and I must contact my Administrator. The problem is that this drive was working fine all along, suddenly I get this message. What could possibly be the reason for this message and do I go about solving this problem.

Run scan disk to check for disk errors
run your anti-virus to make sure that it is not a virus
Go to Device manager and check the drive for conflicts and then click the performance tab and update or reload the driver for your floppy.

It could be just that the floppy drive went bad. Try reseating it, then replacing it along with the floppy cable.
You can also reboot the computer and try a boot disk.
