I have a friend who has a laptop with Windows 95. She opened a Word97 document and her computer froze. When she rebooted, she received an error message stating the himem.sys file was missing or corrupt and she couldn’t continue loading Windows. She was able to replace her himem.sys with a startup disk and copy command, however, now she can’t access her floppy drive (computer freezes every time), and when she tries to go to a DOS prompt, it says the command.com is missing. Any ideas?
