cannot access Win 2000 desktop

by dcunningham . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

User on the NT based LAN has 2 nodes in his office. One for his Win 2000 desktop with a printer attached and the other for his Win 98 laptop. He is a member of the local and the domain administrators group and signs on to both machines as the same user. The win 2000 desktop has the disk formatted as NTFS. When I share a folder on the Win 2000 desktop then try to map the drive on the win 98 laptop it asks for a password for the share \\whatever\IPC$ AND when I attempt to add the HP printer attached to the win 2000 desktop as a new printer on the win 98 laptop by browsing the network to the win 2000 machine and try to expand to the printer it asks for the password for \\whatever\IPC$.
What is the problem?
