By europanorama ·
in win2k(fat32)(complete succesful new setup)my client changed something(i will tell you exactly little later this day) in the network-systemadministrator-windows. to be precise: he deleted something and added new codes. now, despite knowing what he did, the system is blocked. how can he unlock it? i do not have the p4-machine in front of me. its far away.

Boot your computer using a DOS or Windows 9x boot disk.

Type:
CD C:\winnt\system32\config

and press Enter to change to the folder where your passwords are stored. (Of course, if you've installed Windows to a folder other than C:\winnt, you should substitute the correct folder name in the command above.)

Delete the SAM file by typing:
DEL sam.*

and pressing Enter.

Remove the boot floppy and restart your machine.
When prompted for a logon name, use Administrator with a blank password.
One word of warning: The SAM file defines all the user accounts on the computer. When you delete it, you'll lose all user accounts.

You only need to use a Linux boot floppy if you have the NTFS file system. Fat32 can be accessed with a boot disk. NTFS can't be read by booting to a disk but it can be cracked easily by this program that runs in Linux off of the floppy.
